With so many people moving to our little town (welcome!!!!), we wanted to create an easy way for everyone to learn more about not only what's happening on the Town Board level, but also the people behind the governing of our town. For it is those people who are making the decisions about our roads, taxes, safety, and preservation of our rural character.
When it comes to elections, we know it's easy to slip into voting either the D or R lines, especially if you're unsure of the candidates on the ballot, but we implore you to learn about everyone who is running, and learn about their character and contributions to our town, and ignore the party lines.
Voting in small towns has nothing to do with national elections or party lines.
Our elected officials have no say in issues like reproductive rights, gun laws, or immigration. Their concerns are local taxes, balancing our budget, keeping our roads safe and zoning. Most importantly, urban ideals don't always fit in the culture of rural towns that are based in agriculture and small businesses.
What matters is not the party label of a candidate, but their integrity, character, and understanding of our community ... the entire community, not just a select few.
Please learn about those people before casting your votes!
